The V8 Supercar Series is a Touring Car series sanctionned by the FIA. It runs on road courses and street circuits situated in Oceania and the Middle east.

The V8 Supercars Series was formed in 1993 as a replacement of the Australian Touring Car Championship which was based on the Group A formula as described by the FIA. It modified this formula to include 3 categories.

In 1995, the series was split in two, with class B being spun off in it's own championship as the Australian Super Touring Championship.

The cars must be produced in Australia and have a 5 litre homologated engine. The standard minimum weight is 1355kg.
