The F4 British Championship is a single seater motorsport series based in the UK. The series is based on the FIA's Formula 4 regulations. The Championship was designed to be a low-cost entrance to car racing. The championship replaces the British Formula Ford Championship. The championship, formerly using Mygale chassis and Ford engines, switched to Tatuus chassis and Abarth engines under Motorsport UK's management, after Ford ended its involvement. The series is part of the TOCA tour, a series of events run alongside the British Touring Car Championship.
Format[]
The championship consists of three races per event and supports the BTCC. It now allows 15-year-olds to compete following a rule change by the MSA. The champion earns the title of FIA Formula 4 champion and receives a test with a top regional Formula Three team as a reward.
The Car[]
2015-2021[]
The Mygale M14-F4 chassis is powered by a Ford 1.6L EcoBoost engine, tuned to 160 PS by Neil Brown Engineering. Hankook supplies the tires, Sadev provides the transmission, and Life Racing offers the engine control unit with integrated features. The car's cost is capped at £36,000.
2022-Present[]
Starting from the 2022 season, teams have started using the combination of Tatuus F4-T-421 chassis and the engines supplied by Abarth.
